Bobby Lashley is currently navigating free agency after finishing up his time with WWE over the summer. Lashley, who last wrestled in May, underwent surgery in August and revealed that he hoped to be cleared for a return within a month, though he has yet to step back into the ring.
During a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross gave his thoughts on Lashley’s future in professional wrestling. Ross noted that while Lashley is incredibly talented and still looks phenomenal, his future might be a bit complex to figure out.
“Bobby’s hard to figure, he’s a complex guy. Talented, yes. Looks phenomenal,” Ross said. “It’s hard to say. Bobby, like I said, is very complex. He’s a different cat. He’s smart and sometimes smart people have a tendency to overthink things. If Bobby’s not in overthink mode…he’ll do really good because he’s going to be desirable.”
Ross also discussed potential opportunities for Lashley outside of WWE, mentioning that Japan, AEW, and Impact Wrestling could all be viable options.
“Japan is an option… Scott D’Amore could use Bobby Lashley, I think AEW could use Bobby Lashley. But it’s all a matter of the cash that you got to invest to get the talent on site and the creative that you’re going to use to utilize it.”
Ringside News has reported that Lashley, along with MVP and Shelton Benjamin, has already had discussions with AEW regarding a possible move.
