Bron Breakker has been a strong Intercontinental Champion since he beat Sami Zayn at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland Browns Stadium. This week on WWE RAW, he put that title on the line against Main Event Jey Uso.
During the September 23 WWE RAW, the WWE Intercontinental Title was defended against Jey Uso. This was a match that Uce had to fight hard to get, because there was a tournament of triple threat matches and a fatal four-way that he had to get through for the match.
They built toward this main event match on RAW this week in a big way. The company even gave Jey Uso a tunnel of fans to walk through on his way to the ring before he had the entire arena Yeeting. Bron Breakker wasn’t there to make any friends, as he wanted to keep his title.
During the intros, Joe Tessitore mentioned that this match marked Jey Uso’s sixth opportunity to hold the IC Title. They gave this contest a big match feel, and it felt like things could finally happen for Uce.
Fans in Ontario, California were Yeeting up a storm as they popped after every move Uso pulled off. Bron Breakker was an undeniable powerhouse, and he also put a stop to Jey Uso’s momentum whenever he could. Breakker did have a lot of time on offense as Jey Uso sold like the babyface he is. There was even a time when Bron Breakker broke up a pin himself at the one count so he could do a few push-ups.
At one point, Bron Breakker nailed a bulldog off the apron onto Jey Uso and they both smashed against the announce table. That was a high-risk move that certainly paid off for the son of Rick Steiner. Then they went to the third commercial break of the match.
After taking a lot of abuse, Jey Uso popped off a spear and nailed an Uso Splash for a very close two count. That had fans on the edge of their seats. Bron Breakker got up, and he just looked angry. Breakker then kicked Jey out of the ring, and he ran around the ring for another spear, but Uce was waiting with a superkick. Then Uce nailed his own spear on Bron Breakker through the timekeepers barricade.
Jey Uso tossed Breakker back in the ring and hit another spear. Then he nailed another Uso Splash to win the match and the IC Title. This was a massive win and milestone for Jey Uso. He finally has his singles title in WWE, and it was a long time coming.
