Miro joined AEW in 2020 and made a strong impact with his powerful performances, even winning the TNT Championship. However, despite his early success, his accomplishments in AEW have been limited. Recently, he requested his release from the company, and it seems AEW has also turned down several of his pitches.

At the AEW World’s End event last year, Miro achieved a notable victory over Andrade El Idolo, aided by CJ Perry’s surprising betrayal of Andrade during the match. Despite this significant win, Miro has been missing from AEW television, leaving fans curious about his current status and future with the company.

Originally, Miro signed a two-year contract that was supposed to end in spring 2022, but he later extended it to run until spring 2026. However, ongoing creative disagreements between him and AEW have prompted his request for a release, especially given his lengthy absence from the screen.

While speaking on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp noted that AEW and Miro have not been on the same page creatively. Earlier this year, he wanted to face Jon Moxley and they considered having him in the Casino gauntlet match, but neither plan happened, and he hasn’t wrestled lately.

When AEW announced Meat Madness earlier this year, they hoped Miro would be part of it, but he was still recovering from injuries. Now, however, The Redeemer is said to be healthy.

“They have not been on the same page whatsoever creatively, AEW or Miro. He had pitched earlier this year possibly wrestling Jon Moxley. I know they had considered or even wanted him to do the Casino gauntlet match. Neither one of those things happened. He has not wrestled. Now earlier this year when they had announced Meat Madness, they have hoped he would be in it. they found out he was pretty behind in his injury recovery and it didn’t happen. However, he is healthy based on what I heard.”

We have also reported the likelihood of WWE buying out Miro’s AEW contract. Regardless, we will have to wait and see what will become of Miro as fans feel he should be granted his release.
