Kevin Owens has been a key part of WWE programming since he debuted in NXT in 2014, winning multiple championships and becoming one of the company’s top stars. As his WWE contract approaches its expiration, speculation about his future is growing. Although Owens hasn’t signed a new deal with WWE yet, it looks like AEW is ready to make a substantial offer to bring him on board.
In December 2021, after a period of uncertainty about his future, Kevin Owens chose to re-sign with WWE, securing a multi-year deal. Now, as his contract nears its end, Owens has stated that there have been no updates regarding his contract status. With his deal set to expire this year, rumors are circulating about AEW’s interest in bringing The Prizefighter into their roster.
While speaking on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp noted that it’s unclear if there has been any progress in discussions, but AEW is very interested in signing Kevin Owens.
If the chance arises, they plan to make him a significant offer. According to sources, Tony Khan and AEW have wanted Owens for quite a while and will do their best to secure him if the opportunity presents itself.
“I don’t know if any progress has been made or how those talks have went, but what I do know is AEW wants Kevin Owens. If they do get the opportunity to get Kevin Owens, they are going to make him a big offer. From what I understand, Tony Khan and AEW have wanted him for quite some time and if given the opportunity they will make sure they do a lot of land him.”
With several months remaining on Owens’ WWE contract, fans will have to wait to see what he decides. The possibility of him moving to AEW is certainly realistic and would likely create a significant impact in the wrestling world.
