Batista has transitioned from being a wrestler to a successful actor, known for playing a wide variety of roles. After becoming a huge star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other films, Batista shared that his mother had an unexpected reaction when he told her he wanted to pursue an acting career.

Before his breakthrough portrayal of Drax in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ Batista faced significant financial struggles. However, his success as Drax propelled his career forward, leading to notable roles in films like ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘Dune.’

While speaking during an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Batista talked about the moment he told his mother he was leaving wrestling to become an actor. He shared that his mom called him “crazy” for wanting to make the switch.

Raised by a single mother, Batista explained that he was a shy, introverted child, so his family was surprised when he first got into professional wrestling. Despite her initial reaction, Batista said his mom is now his biggest fan, and they remain very close.

“So I was raised by a single mom. Yeah, raised by a single mom. I was such an introverted child when I went into professional wrestling. My mom, my whole family, they couldn’t believe it because I was such a shy person. So it was when I left professional wrestling when I said, Mom, I, you know, because I was really on top. I was like, Mom, I think I’m going to leave professional wrestling. I really want to pursue acting. She said, you’re crazy. I said, but, you know, it’s really what I want to do. But my mom is my biggest fan and we are extremely close.”

Batista has also made it clear he wants to join the DC Universe and he even wants to collaborate with CM Punk in the future, therefore we will have to wait and see how his acting career will continue to flourish in the coming months.
