Tony Schiavone has been part of Tony Khan’s company since the very beginning as a commentator and occasional announcer and he is well aware of how the company functions. That’s exactly why he has now revealed why he doubts AEW will ever run a show in Madison Square Garden.
AEW has been running big shows in stadiums such as Arthur Ashe, where Grand Slam has been an annual event since 2021. However, there are fans who wonder whether AEW would ever run shows in Madison Square Garden.
While speaking on his What Happens When podcast, Tony Schiavone was asked whether there is a possibility of AEW holding a show at Madison Square Garden one day.
Tony Schiavone noted that while he feels it would be great if AEW ever holds a show at Madison Square Garden, he thinks it’s impossible to get done due to the stranglehold WWE has on the World’s Most Famous Arena.
“I think it would be great, but I think it’s impossible to get it done because of the stranglehold WWE has had on MSG.”
WWE held a big show at Madison Square Garden earlier this year and they will be holding their annual post-Christmas Madison Square Garden show as well, so only time will tell if AEW will hold a show there, as Schavione certainly feels it isn’t possible.
