Miro joined AEW in 2020 and quickly made an impression with his powerful performances, eventually capturing the TNT Championship. However, despite his initial success, his achievements in AEW have been limited, and he recently requested his release from the company, with Tony Khan facing criticism for the situation.

At the AEW World’s End event last year, Miro secured a significant win over Andrade El Idolo, largely due to CJ Perry’s unexpected betrayal of Andrade during the match. Despite this major victory, Miro has since been absent from AEW television, leaving fans wondering about his status and future with the promotion.

Miro initially signed a two-year contract set to expire in spring 2022 but later extended it until spring 2026. However, creative differences between Miro and AEW have led to his request for a release, especially after his long absence from TV.

On a recent episode of Smack Talk, former WWE manager Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on Miro’s situation, criticizing Tony Khan for mishandling Miro’s potential. Mantell suggested that Khan failed to see Miro the way fans did and blamed the AEW head for sidelining him, arguing that if Khan wanted to use Miro, he would have already done so.

“It’s Tony Khan; that’s the disconnect. He is not seeing him as the fans saw him. They try to make him something else, and you can’t make anybody anything if you just take them off TV. So, you’ve got to lay the blame or fault at Tony Khan’s feet, because if he wanted to do something with him, he would. Apparently, he doesn’t, and I’ve got enough money to pay him to sit at home, and that’s what he’s been doing.”

We have also reported the likelihood of WWE buying out Miro’s AEW contract. Regardless, we will have to wait and see what will become of Miro as fans feel he should be granted his release.

What’s your opinion on what Dutch Mantell had to say about Tony Khan being blamed for Miro requesting his release? Do you believe it was all Khan’s fault? Sound off in the comments section below!
