Penta El Zero Miedo, one-half of the popular Lucha Brothers tag team with Rey Fenix, has played a significant role in AEW since its debut in 2019. Recently, rumors began circulating that both Penta and Fenix had signed multi-year deals with WWE, sparking excitement among fans. However, it has since been clarified that Rey Fenix is still under contract with AEW for now, and their move to WWE isn’t confirmed at this point.

Rumors began circulating last month about Penta’s open discussions with WWE, indicating that he and Fenix would only make the jump as a package deal. WWE was reportedly eager to bring them on board, especially with strong interest in Fenix. Cory Hayes of PWN even reported that WWE had signed The Lucha Brothers, positioning them for a direct debut on the main roster.

According to Fightful Select, reports recently surfaced suggesting that the Lucha Bros, Penta, and Rey Fenix, had signed multi-year contracts with WWE. However, sources within WWE confirmed to Fightful Select that while WWE may be their expected destination, the two haven’t signed yet. One source mentioned that Rey Fenix is still technically under contract with AEW, and moving to WWE might not be as straightforward as it seems. AEW has not confirmed Fenix’s contract status either.

Both wrestlers are still listed on AEW’s official roster. Attempts to get official responses from AEW and WWE regarding the situation have been met with silence.

Regarding Lucha Bros merchandise, Luchablog pointed out that while WWE is reportedly preparing to release Lucha Brothers merch, the situation is different from AEW’s approach. The rights to some merchandise were retained by the duo in AEW, and the setup for merchandising with WWE is unique.

Penta has reportedly mentioned to several people over the summer that he was anticipating a move to WWE and had been in communication with the company. He also expressed that he and Rey Fenix were a package deal and intended to go straight to WWE’s main roster together.

While The Lucha Brothers might be connected to WWE rumors, they remain part of AEW’s roster for now. Fans are left speculating about when or if we’ll see them make the jump to WWE, turning it into a waiting game for everyone involved. Until then, Penta and Rey Fenix will continue to be part of AEW.
