It’s Friday night, and you know what that means! WWE SmackDown will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the September 20, 2024 episode.

The show opens up with a video package recapping everything that transpired last week between Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, “The OTC” Roman Reigns and The Bloodline (“The Tribal Chief” Solo Sikoa, WWE Tag Team Champions “The Right Hand Man” Tama Tonga and “The Infamous” Tonga Loa and “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu). The Bloodline was then shown entering the arena earlier today and Jacob Fatu attacks the entire security staff.
Michael Cole and Corey Graves then welcomes us to the show as WWE United States Champion “The Mega Star” LA Knight makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night, which is a WWE United States Championship Match. Andrade makes his way down to the ring next.
The match starts off with Andrade looking to hit The Final Message on Knight. Knight avoids it and looks to hit a neckbreaker on Andrade, but Andrade slides out of the ring before Knight can. Andrade then wears Knight down with a rear headlock. Andrade then follows it up with a shoulder tackle, but Knight responds with a back elbow and sends Andrade’s face repeatedly bouncing off the announce desk. Knight then sends Andrade back in the ring and hits him with a spear through the middle rope, then goes for a pin but Andrade kicks out. Knight then delivers a shoulder on Andrade’s midsection, but Andrade sends Knight onto the apron. Knight then gets Andrade up on his shoulders, but Andrade escapes and sends Knight crashing into the ring post. Andrade then delivers some stomps on Knight in the corner and sets up for a meteora. Knight then sees Andrade coming and responds with a flatliner, then delivers some stomps on him in the corner and hits him with a Hip Attack. Knight then hits a neckbreaker on Andrade in the corner and goes for a pin, but Andrade kicks out.
Knight then places Andrade on the top turnbuckle and joins him up there, but Andrade fights him off and looks to hit a moonsault. Knight then avoids it, but Andrade immediately hits a second one and follows it up with a meteora on Knight in the corner. Knight then gets Andrade up on one shoulder and hits him with a powerslam, then hits an elbow drop off the top rope and sets up for the BFT. Andrade then counters into a roll up, but Knight escapes. Andrade then hits a back elbow on Knight and pins him, but Knight kicks out. Andrade and Knight then climb up the ropes, but Andrade knocks Knight off and looks to fly. Knight then moves out of the way and hits Andrade with the BFT for the win.

After the match, Knight and Andrade show their respect for one another and Andrade holds up Knight’s hand.
We then get a video package of the stipulation being set for the Women’s Tornado Tag Team Match later tonight between Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax vs. Bayley and Naomi.
We then head to the back, where Tiffany Stratton was talking to Nia Jax and she says it would be so good to never see Bayley or Naomi on SmackDown again. Jax then says if Stratton loses, it might be a good idea if Stratton leaves SmackDown.
We then see Andrade and Carmelo Hayes talking backstage and Carmelo tells Andrade that he choked harder than the Kings did against the Lakers some years back. A brawl then ensued between the two.
We then get a video of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns meeting each other at the Georgia Tech football stadium. Reigns tells Rhodes that the stadium they’re standing in is his given that he played football for Georgia Tech. Rhodes then points out all the cars that drove into the field with Reigns and says that Georgia is his home. Reigns then reflects on everything The Bloodline has taken from him and says he has nothing to lose and Rhodes responds by telling Reigns that if he’s lost everything, then he isn’t what he was anymore. Rhodes then demands that Reigns gives him his word that he has his back so that he can return the favor and Reigns gives him his word. Reigns then says when they’re finished at Bad Blood, he’s taking back what’s his. Reigns then looks to leave, but Rhodes stops him and says the Undisputed WWE Championship isn’t his. Reigns then tells Rhodes that he is in his way in life and leaves.
Kevin Owens was then shown watching the video backstage. Byron Saxton then walks up to Owens and asks Owens what he thought and Owens just walks away.
Apollo Crews is already waiting inside the ring for the next match of the night, which is a Singles Match and Giovanni Vinci makes his way down to the ring.
The match starts off with Vinci delivering some right hands on Crews in the corner, then follows it up with a series of chops and uppercuts. Crews then responds with a few chops and forearms, but Vinci nails him with a clothesline and delivers some right hands on him. Vinci then sets up for a powerbomb, but Crews counters into a roll-up for the win.

After the match, an enraged Vinci hits a boot on Crews. Vinci then sends Crews crashing into the barricade, then sends him back in the ring and hits him with a Brainbuster. Vinci then jaws at Crews and leaves the ring.
We then see Byron Saxton walk up to Kevin Owens once again in the backstage area and asks Owens what he thought. Owens says he would rather talk about it in the ring and he makes his way down to the ring to address the WWE Universe.
Kevin Owens starts off by saying he is aware that a lot of people are wondering about Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes teaming up at Bad Blood to face The Bloodline given his history with everyone in the match. Tama Tonga’s music then hits and he makes his way out alongside Tanga Loa and Jacob Fatu. Tonga says Reigns and Rhodes embarrassed Solo Sikoa last week and calls it a big mistake. Tonga then says while Rhodes and Reigns have what’s coming to them at Bad Blood, but Owens interrupts him and says there’s no point in wasting anymore time. The Bloodline then surrounds Owens on the ring apron, but Owens nails Tonga and Loa. Owens then stares Fatu down, but Tonga and Loa overpower him. #DIY then make their way down to the ring to even the odds and the six men begin brawling with each other. Officials and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then make their down to the ring to separate the six men and makes a Six-Man Tag Team Match between The Bloodline vs. #DIY and Kevin Owens official for later tonight.
We then see Bayley and Naomi talking backstage and Bayley says they have a common goal of getting the belt off of Nia Jax. Naomi then says when she wins, Bayley will be the first to receive a title opportunity.
WWE Women’s Champion and 2024 WWE Queen of the Ring “The Annihilator” Nia Jax and 2024 Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night, which is a Tornado Tag Team Match and Naomi and Bayley follow.
The match starts off with Naomi brawling with Jax as Bayley brawls with Stratton. Jax and Stratton then look to send Naomi and Bayley crashing into each other, but Naomi and Bayley reverse their momentum. Naomi and Bayley then hit an assisted splash on Stratton in the corner and Naomi hits Stratton with a Bulldog. Naomi then sends Jax crashing into the corner with Bayley, but Jax sends Naomi crashing into the mat. Bayley then delivers some forearms on Jax, but Stratton hits Bayley with a hair whip. Stratton then climbs to the top and hits a Blockbuster on Bayley as Jax hits Bayley with a Samoan Drop at the same time. Bayley and Naomi then double team on Jax on the outside. Bayley then sends Stratton into the barricade, then hits Jax with a tope suicida. Naomi then follows it up with a crossbody on Jax off the apron, then sends Stratton inside the ring with Bayley.
Jax then hits Naomi with a clothesline, but Bayley puts Jax in a Sleeper. Jax then sends Bayley off of her, but Bayley and Naomi hits a double back body drop on Jax. Jax then nails Naomi and sets up for the An-Nia-Lator, but Bayley intercepts Jax and joins her on the ropes with Naomi. Stratton then pulls Bayley down and sends her into the corner. Jax then hits a leg drop on Naomi as Bayley hits an elbow drop on Stratton. Bayley and Jax then pin Stratton and Naomi respectively, but both Stratton and Naomi kick out. Jax then looks to powerbomb Naomi, but Naomi counters into a facebuster. Naomi then goes for a pin, but Stratton breaks the fall with a Swanton Bomb off the ropes. Stratton then apologizes to Jax, but turns around into a Shatter Machine from Bayley and Naomi. Jax then nails Naomi from behind and hits a Samoan Drop on Bayley, but Bayley and Naomi both pin Jax at the same time for the win.

After the match, Bayley and Naomi realize that they both pinned Jax at the same time.
We then get a video vignette on Chelsea Green and it featured Green taking the literal trash out. Green then beats up a mannequin with Michin’s face taped onto it. Green was then shown training for a Dumpster Match with Michin, which was set up last week. The match is then announced to be taking place in Nashville in two weeks.
It is then announced that Carmelo Hayes and Andrade will face each other in their sixth match.
Naomi and Bayley were then shown talking to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis in his office. Aldis says the solution to the finish of their match will be that next week Naomi and Bayley will face each other and the winner of that match will face Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship.
Kevin Owens’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night. #DIY then looks to follow, but we see The Bloodline attacking them backstage. The Bloodline then makes their way out and Owens meets them on the ramp. Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu then overpower Owens, but The Street Profits make their way down to the ring to even the odds. Owens then hits a Swanton Bomb off the ropes to land on everyone and it looks like The Street Profits will be Owens’ partner for the main event.
The match starts off with Loa and Owens. Owens goes straight after Loa. Angelo Dawkins then tags in and hits a right hand on Loa, then tags in Montez Ford. Ford then hits a Swanton Bomb on Loa off the apron, then follows it up with a kick on his chest and tags Dawkins back in. Dawkins then continues wearing down Loa, but Owens tags back in and sends him crashing into the top turnbuckle face first. Ford then tags in and delivers some stomps on Loa in the corner. Fatu then tags in and wears down Ford, then tags in Tonga. Fatu then hits a suplex on Ford and Tonga flies into the ring to take Ford down. Tonga then hits a clothesline on Ford, then tags Fatu back in. Fatu then nails Ford, but Ford sends him into the corner and tags Dawkins back in. Dawkins then nails Fatu with a couple of clotheslines and a back elbow, then sends Loa crashing into the mat face first and looks to hit a splash on Fatu. Fatu then intercepts him and hits a moonsault off the top rope. Tonga then delivers some right hands on Dawkins in the ring and Dawkins responds with a suplex on Tonga and looks to tag out, but Fatu tags in and prevents him from doing so with a senton. Fatu then sends Dawkins into the corner, then delivers several headbutts on him.
Ford and Tonga then tag in and Ford hits a crossbody on Tonga off the top. Ford then follows it up with a clothesline and several kicks, then hits a jumping knee on Tonga and a back suplex before hitting a standing moonsault. Ford then hits an enzuigiri on Tonga, then tags in Owens. Owens then nails Loa and Fatu with clotheslines on the outside, then follows it up with a senton on Fatu and a Frog Splash on Loa. Owens then slides back in the ring and hits a cannonball on Tonga in the corner, then climbs to the top and hits a Swanton Bomb. Owens then goes for a pin, but Fatu breaks the fall. Dawkins then clotheslines Fatu out of the ring and Owens climbs to the top. Tonga then nails him with a couple of right hands and joins him on the ropes, but Owens hits Tonga with a Brainbuster and goes for a pin. Loa then pulls Owens off of Tonga to break the fall, but Owens fights him off and hits him with a Stunner. Owens then goes for a pin, but Loa pulls Owens off of Tonga once again. Dawkins then hits a shoulder pounce on Loa, but Fatu hits a tope suicida to break the fall. Ford then flies over the top to land on Fatu. Loa then clears the announce desk before hitting a bodyslam on Ford. Fatu then hits a Frog Splash on Ford in the ring, but #DIY makes their way back out. They begin brawling with The Bloodline, but The Bloodline overpowers him.
The winners of the 6-Man Tag Team Match via disqualification, The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) and “The Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens!
After the match, Cody Rhodes makes his way down to the ring with a chair in hand and The Bloodline retreats. Owens then grabs the chair and momentarily considers using it, but opts against it. Both men then shake hands as the show comes to a close.
