WWE’s merger into TKO Group Holdings, alongside UFC, marked a new era in sports entertainment, and the company has been making strategic changes since. One key shift has been the reduction in live events, particularly house shows, which have a new update for the upcoming year.

TKO President Mark Shapiro explained that WWE is scaling back on less profitable, untelevised live events, often referred to as house shows, which Vince McMahon had traditionally used to build the WWE brand.

According to PWInsider, fans can indeed expect a lot fewer WWE live events as the company enters 2025, which will see substantial changes, citing RAW’s move to Netflix and SmackDown becoming a three hour show temporarily.

WWE reduced the number of live events from 300 in previous years to around 250 in 2023, with plans to further decrease that number to about 200 in 2024. The goal behind this strategy is to focus on more profitable ventures while maintaining the brand’s dominance in the market.

This shift is evident in WWE’s 2024 schedule, which shows a dramatic cut and focus on house shows, down to only 11, as part of a broader plan to enhance profitability while still maintaining the company’s visibility. With the live event count set to go down even further in 2025, we will have to wait and see how this will affect the financial standings of the company.
