Kevin Owens has been a staple of WWE programming since his debut in NXT back in 2014, capturing multiple championships and earning a reputation as one of the company’s top stars. However, with his WWE contract nearing its expiration, speculation is running wild about Owens’ future in the wrestling world. While Owens hasn’t signed a new deal with WWE yet, AEW President Tony Khan is reportedly prepared to go all out to bring Owens to AEW, if the opportunity arises.
Back in December 2021, after much uncertainty surrounding his future, Kevin Owens opted to re-sign with WWE, securing a multi-year deal. But now, as his contract approaches its end, Owens has confirmed that there haven’t been any changes to his contract status. With his deal set to expire this year, rumors have been swirling about AEW’s interest in bringing “The Prizefighter” into their ranks.
According to Ibou of WrestlePurists, Kevin Owens is on a very short list of WWE stars that Tony Khan would go to great lengths to sign. Owens’ in-ring skills, combined with his charisma and personality, make him a highly sought-after talent, and Khan is reportedly ready to exhaust AEW’s resources to acquire him.
“KO is on the short list of ex-WWE guys that Tony would still exhaust resources to acquire if he has the chance,” Ibou reported.
With several months left before Owens’ WWE contract officially expires, fans will have to wait and see what decision he makes. The idea of Owens jumping ship to AEW isn’t far-fetched, and it would undoubtedly send shockwaves through the wrestling industry.
