WWE has signed up a lot of talented people behind the scenes, and some of them are seen as a long time coming. It only seems like a perfect fit that Steve Corino will remain with WWE as part of their developmental system.
Known for his extensive in-ring career and respected coaching abilities, Corino’s renewed multi-year deal will see him remain a key figure in WWE’s developmental system, particularly at the WWE Performance Center.
According to a report from Bodyslam.net, Steve Corino, a former NWA, MLW, and ECW World Heavyweight Champion, will continue his role as a Tag Team Coach and Producer for NXT. As one of the top coaches at the Performance Center, Corino works closely with NXT’s tag teams, helping shape the next generation of talent.
Sources within WWE and NXT reportedly indicated that locking in Steve Corino was seen as an essential move, given his experience and impact on the developmental process. Beyond his WWE role, Corino is also reportedly interested in bringing NXT talent to work at Premier Wrestling Federation, an independent promotion he co-owns alongside Jacob Hammermeier and his son, Colby Corino.
Corino originally joined WWE in January 2017 as a full-time coach and has since been integral to the development of numerous stars. Known as “The King of Old School,” Corino made his name in ECW with his hard-hitting style and classic feuds with icons like Dusty Rhodes and Jerry Lynn. His influence, however, extends far beyond his in-ring career. As a coach, producer, and commentator, Corino has helped shape the landscape of professional wrestling and continues to do so with WWE’s NXT.
