Mina Shirakawa is one of STARDOM’s top stars, and she is embarking on an exciting journey outside the company where she found her fame. Venturing into the world of American wrestling can be intimidating for some, because there is a lot of unknown to it, including a language barrier, but Mina isn’t phased.
In recent weeks, Mina Shirakawa has competed for both AEW and ROH, showcasing her talents on a global stage. During this time, fellow wrestler Mariah May, fresh off her AEW Women’s World Championship win, invited Shirakawa to celebrate her victory together. May said that she misses Mina, as the two were very close, even though AEW asked them to stop kissing on television.
In an interview with Proresu Today, Mina Shirakawa opened up about her decision to perform in America, particularly with AEW. Reflecting on the opportunity, she admitted that it was a gamble, but one she couldn’t pass up.
“This is already a gamble. It is a gamble to make myself shine. I’m not getting any younger, so I’m always thinking about what I need to do to make my way up in the limited time I have. If I refuse the offer, there may not be another one. I had a gut feeling and decided to go.”
Mina Shirakawa further revealed that AEW’s offer was open-ended. “The offer from AEW was simply that they wanted me to come for one month, and that was it. There was nothing specific about which matches I was going to participate in or how many matches I was going to play. There was even a possibility that no matches would be scheduled. We didn’t know until we got there,” she shared, highlighting the uncertainty that came with the opportunity.
Despite the unpredictability, Mina Shirakawa’s desire to seize the moment is clear. On the September 18th AEW Dynamite, she officially responded to Mariah May’s invitation, announcing that she was on her way. This marks a thrilling new chapter in Shirakawa’s career as she continues to push boundaries and expand her presence in the world of professional wrestling.
We will keep a close eye on Mina Shirakawa’s return to AEW. She is likely to do big things if given the proper booking. Fans have certainly taken a liking to her charisma, and they want to see more from her. Then again, everything is likely to take a big turn the moment Toni Storm returns.
