Likelihood of WWE Buying Out Miro’s AEW Contract

The pro wrestling world has always been fueled by speculation, and Miro is getting a lot of attention right now. Miro has asked for his release after a sporadic run in AEW that’s left many fans puzzled. Now some are questioning whether WWE might swoop in and buy out Miro’s contract, bringing him back to the company where he made a name for himself as Rusev.

The conversation took a new turn when a Twitter user, Robert Droulias, posed the hypothetical question: could WWE buy out Miro’s AEW contract? The inquiry was directed at Sean Ross Sapp, who quickly responded with a blunt, “99.9 percent would not happen.” With that response, the speculation should, in theory, be put to rest. But, in the world of professional wrestling, rumors tend to linger.

The likelihood of WWE buying out Miro’s AEW contract is slim to none, and Sapp’s tweet supports that reality. Wrestling contracts, especially in major promotions like AEW and WWE, aren’t the kind of agreements that can easily be dissolved or bought out. Also, it’s very unlikely that WWE would work with AEW on that deal, or any deal.

Even if there was interest on WWE’s part, buying out Miro’s contract from AEW seems far-fetched for several reasons. First, AEW and WWE are direct competitors, and buying talent from each other is nearly unprecedented. While talent jumping from one company to another is common, that usually happens when a contract expires or when a talent is released.

It’s also worth noting that Tony Khan is not one to let go of talent he believes in, even if he’s not using them. Miro was positioned as a high-profile signing for AEW, and the company made a significant investment in him. Letting WWE swoop in and buy out his contract would set a dangerous precedent for AEW. It’s unlikely that Khan, or anyone at AEW, would entertain such an idea.

On WWE’s end, they have shown an interest in bringing back former stars, but there’s been no clear indication that Miro is a priority for them. WWE has been focused on building new stars and pushing talent they’ve developed within their own system. While they’ve re-signed several former talents, and they are aggressively signing others, WWE doesn’t seem likely to go through the complicated process of negotiating a contract buyout for Miro when they could simply wait for his contract to expire.

Ultimately, while it’s fun to speculate about what the future holds for Miro, the chances of WWE buying out his AEW contract are extremely slim.
