Jeff Hardy Sought Matt Hardy’s Input for Bray Wyatt Face Paint Tribute

At the tapings on September 14 at the Boeing Center in San Antonio, Texas, Jeff Hardy teamed with Matt Hardy and Masha Slamovich to take on Tasha Steelz and The System in a tag team match. However, the standout moment came before the match, when Jeff paid tribute to his late friend Bray Wyatt by donning face paint inspired by Wyatt’s iconic character, “The Fiend.” This homage touched many fans, reminding them of Wyatt’s enduring legacy in the wrestling community.

Jeff’s brother, Matt Hardy, later commented on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, that the face paint was indeed inspired by “The Fiend.” Jeff sought Matt’s opinion, asking if the tribute would be fitting.

Matt Hardy confirmed that Jeff’s Fiend-inspired face paint was a heartfelt and respectful tribute, describing it as “absolutely identical” and praising Jeff for honouring Wyatt in such a creative and meaningful way.

“Yes, it was 100% inspired from The Fiend mask. Jeff said, ‘Hey, do you think this would be cool if I did it, you know, kind of as a tribute. I said, ‘Yeah, man, It would be awesome. I think it would be great. It would be very cool for your face paint.’ He’s done some stuff that was very skeleton- like as we approach Halloween season and whatnot. He said, ‘I want to try and pull this off’, and it was absolutely identical. It was very cool that Jeff was able to pay his respects and honor The Fiend on TNA Impact.”

This tribute from Jeff Hardy was a powerful reminder of Bray Wyatt’s lasting influence and the deep respect he garnered among his peers. His legacy continues to be celebrated by the wrestling world, and Hardy’s gesture was a touching way to commemorate his friend.
