The September 17 episode of WWE NXT brought fans back to the NXT Arena one more time before the show hits the road. CM Punk was heavily advertised and played a major role in the event, so much so that the internal name of the show revolved around the Second City Saint.

Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that this week’s NXT episode had an interesting internal name. With CM Punk on the show, it was dubbed “Straight Edge Down The Middle.”

As fans saw, the main event segment featured CM Punk coming out and announcing himself as the special guest referee for the October 1 WWE NXT show at Chicago’s Allstate Arena. In that match, Trick Williams and “All Ego” Ethan Page will face off, with Punk calling the action.

Punk made it clear that Chicago is going to be electric. He laid down the law, stating that both men had to follow his rules, then let them brawl right in front of him. As WWE NXT referees and officials tried to separate Trick and Ethan, Punk sat back on the turnbuckle with a grin on his face, enjoying the chaos.

That wasn’t Punk’s only appearance on the show. He was also involved in an angle with Roxanne Perez and Giulia. Many fans expected Punk to serve as the special guest referee for that match, but NXT threw a swerve. Despite that, Punk still shared a great moment in the ring with Roxanne Perez, even though there was a bit of fabrication with the numbers during her promo.

We will keep our eyes on this story and so much more. Tickets for the October 1 WWE NXT in Chicago’s Allstate Arena can be found on TicketMaster.
