Alberto Del Rio has accomplished a lot of things in his career, but all the controversies surrounding him have ultimately ruined his reputation. With that said, Del Rio remains hopeful about a possible return to WWE.

Despite Alberto Del Rio’s many controversies, it’s clear he achieved significant success during his time in WWE. As a four-time world champion, two-time WWE United States Champion, and the 2011 Royal Rumble winner, his accolades cemented his legacy in the company.

While speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling, Alberto Del Rio reflected on his positive relationship with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon when asked about the possibility of returning. He mentioned that he used to have a good relationship with McMahon, but since McMahon is no longer in charge, Del Rio is unsure how things stand with the current leadership.

“I don’t know. Some years ago, the last time you and I talked, I mean, I said yes because everybody knows this, I was always in good terms with the man [Vince McMahon], but the man is not there anymore, so I don’t know how it is today when it comes to the people running the company.”

While he doesn’t know if a return will happen, Del Rio expressed his desire to retire in WWE one day. He noted that he’s been working hard, especially over the last 16 months, and he hopes that the company recognizes his efforts. Del Rio shared that his biggest dream is to have one last run in WWE and retire after a match against one of his favorite wrestlers.

“I know they know what I’m doing or what I’ve been doing all these years, especially these past 16 months, and I’m hoping that after seeing the best version of Alberto Del Rio, because I’m in a fantastic place and moment right now, I hope after all that hard work they decide one day to make the call because I would be lying if I don’t tell you or tell the fans that that’s my biggest dream to go back there and have one last run and retire, finally, hanging my boots after a match in the WWE against one of my favorite wrestlers, whoever it is, Punk, Cena, Rey Mysterio.”

Alberto Del Rio is also certain he will get inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame someday. Now it remains to be seen whether the Mexican star really will return to WWE one day, as anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling.
