Mercedes Mone currently holds two titles, as the AEW TBS Champion and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. She arrived in Tony Khan’s company with a reputation for drawing big money and creating major buzz. However, as she settles into AEW, it seems some people are taking issue with the privileges she’s receiving. That said, the company has extended similar perks to other top stars in the past, making her treatment consistent with AEW’s handling of its biggest names.
Ringside News exclusively reported that Mercedes Mone is receiving special treatment backstage at AEW events, which may be causing friction within the locker room. Instances of her having issues with Saraya and Britt Baker were also part of the report.
We also noted that Mone is accompanied by her own entourage at every show and has her own private locker room. This preferential treatment appears to have rubbed some of her colleagues the wrong way.
Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that there were rumors Mercedes Mone has her own dressing room in AEW. Sapp confirmed this, adding that it’s not an unusual perk, as several other big names in the company also have their own locker rooms.
Throughout AEW’s history, stars like Chris Jericho, The Elite, Cody & Brandi Rhodes, and Sting have all enjoyed the luxury of private dressing rooms. It’s a perk reserved for top-tier talent who require their privacy, and it’s well-earned considering their status.
As for Mercedes Mone, we’ll have to wait and see what’s next for her in AEW. She’s got a long road ahead, and it’s likely she’ll continue receiving VIP treatment. After all, Tony Khan ensured these perks when he secured her massive contract, bringing the former Sasha Banks into the AEW fold.
