WWE Hall of Famer JBL has been making surprising appearances at various independent wrestling events, marking a return to the wrestling scene outside of WWE. Now, it seems that an AEW personality believes JBL could create memorable moments if he were to make a potential appearance in AEW.
In the past few weeks, JBL has been making headlines by appearing at several high-profile events. He first made an appearance alongside Nic Nemeth at AAA’s Triplemania event, followed by a shocking return at GCW’s Homecoming event and then on Ohio Valley Wrestling, before returning to TNA again.
While speaking on the latest edition of Grilling JR, Jim Ross talked about how JBL could make a big impact if he appeared in AEW. He thinks JBL’s appearance would create a special moment for the fans and make the show more exciting. Ross explained that people remember big moments more than individual wrestling moves, so adding surprises makes the show even better.
While Ross doesn’t think JBL needs to join AEW full-time, he believes a one-time special appearance would get a lot of attention and be something fans would talk about for a long time.
“No, not at all, I think it’s a good idea. It adds to the presentation, it gives you a memorable moment in the ring in front of all the fans. Memorable moments are what we look for. You’re not going to remember every head and wrist lock during the show, they’re important to the process, no doubt. However, this adds a new element.
As we’ve said on the show many times, I think surprises are very special and our fans love surprises. John showing up and doing his thing [would be] a surprise, and a fitting surprise. I’m not saying he should be full-time, because I don’t know if he wants to be full-time, but I do think on a special occasion, him making an appearance would be talked about.”
We have also reported that JBL’s indie appearances did not require WWE’s approval. Regardless, we will have to wait and see if JBL will end up appearing on AEW television somewhere down the line, as nothing is impossible in the world of professional wrestling nowadays.
