Kenny Omega’s quest for AEW World Tag Team gold with Chris Jericho hit a roadblock due to a serious medical condition. Omega was diagnosed with diverticulitis, which required urgent surgery, forcing him to step away from the ring and delay his plans. Since undergoing surgery, Omega has been on the mend and recently resumed in-ring training, giving fans hope for his return.

Omega made his first TV appearance since December on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, providing fans with an update on his recovery. However, his return to TV was short-lived as The Elite—including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada—attacked Omega, leading to his temporary write-off from the show.

Now, the former AEW World Champion is steadily recovering. Omega’s close friend and longtime partner Kota Ibushi recently shared photos on Instagram from his training facility, showing the two working out together. In the post, Ibushi hinted at something big, writing, “World domination is just days away!! Had a golden practice after a long time. We are still far from done❗”

Omega has been making steady progress following his surgery, and fans are anxiously awaiting his full return to in-ring action. With the Best Bout Machine looking healthier and back in training, speculation is growing about when he will make his triumphant comeback to AEW.
