It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means! AEW Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the September 18, 2024 episode.

The show opens up with a shot of Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Marina Shafir walking through the backstage area. We then get a separate shot of Darby Allin riding a skateboard through the backstage area. Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone then welcomes us to the show and Excalibur sends his best wishes to Justin Roberts.
We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Bryan Keith, Big Bill, Mark Briscoe and Kyle O’Reilly joining Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho in the ring and everyone begins brawling with each other. Keith, Bill, Mark and O’Reilly then spill out of the ring and Cassidy flies to land on them all before Mark follows suit. Cassidy then hits a tope suicida on Jericho on the outside, then nails him from behind with a right hand. Cassidy then hits Jericho with a second right hand from over the barricade, then sends Jericho back in the ring. Cassidy then climbs to the top, but Jericho intercepts him with a chop and meets him up there. Cassidy then fights off Jericho and looks to hits him with an avalanche hurricanrana, but Jericho sees him coming and counters into the Walls of Jericho. Cassidy then transitions into a roll-up, but Jericho kicks out and hits Cassidy with a powerslam. Jericho then delivers a few chops on Cassidy and knocks him off the apron, then sends him crashing into the barricade. Jericho then sends Cassidy back in the ring and hits him with a double ax handle off the ropes. Jericho then follows it up with a Lionsault and goes for a pin, but Cassidy kicks out. Cassidy then climbs to the top and looks to hit an elbow drop, but Jericho gets his knees up. Cassidy then sends Jericho out of the ring over the top, but Jericho nails him. Both men then find themselves on top of a road case before Jericho hits a back suplex on Cassidy off of it through a table.
Jericho and Cassidy then exchange right hands with each other. Both men then nail each other with forearms and Cassidy nails Jericho with a kick and delivers several more on him in the corner. Jericho then intercepts Cassidy with a clothesline. Both men then teeter on the ropes, but Cassidy fights Jericho off with a headbutt and follows it up with an elbow drop. Jericho then responds by locking in the Walls of Jericho, but Cassidy makes it to the bottom rope to break the hold. Bill then reemerges at ringside and hits a boot on Cassidy before Jericho goes for a pin. Cassidy then kicks out and O’Reilly makes his way down to the ring to take down Bill. Both men then brawl to the back. Jericho then hits a Death Valley Driver on Cassidy and delivers some stomps on the side of his head, but Cassidy nails Jericho with a DDT and a Tornado DDT. Cassidy then climbs to the top and hits a diving DDT on Jericho, then sets up for the Orange Punch. Jericho then intercepts Cassidy with a Codebreaker, but Cassidy responds with a Beach Break. Keith then distracts the referee, but Mark delivers some right hands on him. Jericho then grabs a pair of brass knuckles and looks to hit Cassidy with them. Cassidy then takes hold of the knuckles and uses it to hit the Orange Punch on Jericho for the win.

We then see video footage from after last week’s Dynamite of PAC and Claudio Castagnoli delivering a backstage promo. PAC looks into the camera and wonders where Wheeler Yuta is. PAC says they have an AEW World Trios Title match next week and it’s time for Yuta to come to work. Castagnoli then says he’s not mad, he’s just disappointed in Yuta. Castagnoli then says he thought he taught Yuta better. Castagnoli then says Yuta is old enough to make his own decisions, but he asks him to do him a favor by showing up next week so they can defend their titles. Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir then shows up and Moxley says he knows it’s a lot for Yuta to handle, but he believes Yuta has the strength inside him to do the right thing. Moxley then says it’s Yuta’s choice and he’s free to leave, but he has a personal responsibility to the greater good. Moxley then says Yuta has to look in the mirror every morning. Moxley then asks what type of man they taught Yuta to be.
We then get video footage of a distracted Wheeler Yuta winning a match on Saturday’s AEW Collision.
We then head to the back, where Alex Marvez says he understands Yuta is on the verge of leaving and hopes to get a word with him. Marvez then asks Yuta about the others demanding him to show up and defend the AEW World Trios Titles. Yuta talks about being conflicted and mistakenly talks about WrestleDream until Marvez corrects him by saying it’s Grand Slam. A crew member then shows up with one of the AEW World Trios Titles and hands it to Yuta while saying he has left it in the locker room. Yuta then says if the others want one more favor, then next week he’ll kick whatever ass he has to.
FTW Champion “The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil” HOOK then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and JD Ink is already waiting inside. Roderick Strong then joins the commentary desk as Matt Taven and Mike Bennett stand behind him.
The match starts off with HOOK hitting a double underhook suplex on Ink. HOOK then hits two more suplexes and cinches in the Redrum for the win.

After the match, HOOK makes his way to the stage. Strong then jaws at HOOK and HOOK heads to the back without any physicality.
We then see Alex Marvez in the backstage area and he says Claudio Castagnoli, PAC and Wheeler Yuta has issued an open challenge for the AEW World Trios Titles for next week’s Grand Slam. Marvez then introduces Private Party (Zay and Quen) while saying it sounds right up their alley. Zay says if Moxley wants a war, he should let them be their first battle.
We then see Renee Paquette interviewing “The Patriarch” Christian Cage, who is accompanied by Killswitch and Mother Wayne. Christian talks about Nick having a 4-Way Match on Rampage against Rocky Romero, Lio Rush and Kip Sabian. Christian then says the match will start Nick’s road to glory because he decides that he and Nick will hold championships at the same time. Christian then says it will not go well in the Moxley household because Moxley also wants the AEW World Championship, but he doesn’t have the contract for a shot at the championship. Christian then notices that Nick wandered off the interview set and saw that he had confronted Kip Sabian. Christian then calls for the camera to be turned off. Christian says he doesn’t know what Sabian’s problem with Nick is and he doesn’t care that his father died. Christian then says he will put Sabian in the ground next to his father if he pulled this again.
We then get the entrances of the next match of the night, which is a Tag Team Match.
The match starts off with Sakazaki and Deeb. Deeb nails Sakazaki with a shoulder tackle and follows it up with a Dragon Screw, but Sakazaki hits Deeb with a kick and tags in Aminata. Deeb then looks to tag out to May, but May is distracted admiring her AEW Women’s World Championship. Deeb then hits a Dragon Screw on Aminata using the middle rope, then tags in May. May then hits a missile dropkick on Aminata, but Aminata responds with a right hand. Sakazaki then climbs to the top and hits a dropkick on Deeb. Sakazaki then hits May with a hurricanrana and an enzuigiri, then pins Deeb but Deeb kicks out. Sakazaki then pins Deeb again, but May breaks the fall and hits a German suplex on her. Aminata then hits one of her own on May, but Deeb hits Aminata with one of her own. Sakazaki then hits a modified Airplane Spin on Deeb and flies off the top rope to land on Deeb, May and Aminata on the outside. Sakazaki then sends Deeb back in the ring and hits her with a crossbody off the top, then goes for a pin. May then breaks the fall by hitting Sakazaki with the AEW Women’s World Championship, causing the disqualification.

After the match, May continues hitting Sakazaki with the title and berating her. May then gives Sakazaki a kiss on the cheek before exiting the ring.
We then get a video package of Mina Shirakawa speaking in English about AEW Women’s World Champion “The Glamour” Mariah May saying she wanted her to return. Shirakawa then tells May to get ready by saying “Mina is coming.”
Excalibur then hypes Jon Moxley appearing next.
Commentary then speaks at their desk. Excalibur hypes the trios match as the show’s main event and then talks about next week’s Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness Match for the Grand Slam show. Excalibur and the match graphic then emphasizes that the match will only take place if Danielson is cleared.
We then get a video package that focuses on the history between AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness and we get comments from McGuinness, Mark Briscoe, Roderick Strong and Jerry Lynn.
Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Marina Shafir then make their way down to the ring. Private Party then appears out of nowhere and blindsides the trio, but Moxley, Castagnoli and Shafir overpower them. Castagnoli then hits a couple of backbreakers on Quen in the ring as Moxley beats down Zay on the outside. Shafir then gets in some shots on Zay, but Komander appears out of nowhere and dropkicks Castagnoli. Komander then looks to fly out of the ring, but Castagnoli nails him with an uppercut. Shafir then takes Alex Abrahantes down as Moxley grabs a hammer from a toolbox and tells both Private Party members that they haven’t gotten anywhere in the past five years. Castagnoli and Shafir then hold Zay in place near the entrance ramp as Moxley hits Zay’s hand with the hammer. Darby Allin then makes his way down to the ring with a skateboard in hand and hits Moxley with it, then looks to hit Moxley with it a second time inside the ring. Moxley then escapes and Allin grabs a mic, then tells Moxley that he’s not the same person he was five years ago and will defeat him next week to become the next #1 Contender for the AEW World Championship.
We then get a video package on AEW TNT Champion “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry.
We then get the entrances of the next match of the night, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Ricochet delivering some right hands on Mortos. Mortos then returns the favor, but Ricochet sends him out of the ring and hits him with a tope suicida. Ricochet then sends Mortos back in the ring and hits him with a clothesline off the top, then follows it up with a standing Shooting Star Press and goes for a pin. Mortos then kicks out and hits an arm drag on Ricochet, but Ricochet returns the favor and looks to hit a hurricanrana on Mortos. Mortos then lands on his feet, but Ricochet trips him. Ricochet then hits a kick on Mortos that sends him crashing out of the ring, then looks to fly over the top to land on him. Mortos then catches Ricochet and powerbombs him onto the ring apron. Ricochet then sends Mortos crashing into the middle turnbuckle and dials it up for a 619. Mortos then responds with a Samoan Drop and goes for a pin, but Ricochet kicks out. Ricochet then sends Mortos out of the ring, but Mortos sets up for a powerbomb. Ricochet then counters it and nails Mortos, then sends him back in the ring and hits him with a 450 Splash off the top rope. Ricochet then climbs to the top, but Mortos joins him up there and sends him crashing into the mat with a press. Mortos then goes for a pin, but Ricochet kicks out. Ricochet then hits a Crucifix Bomb on Mortos, then stomps on his hand and follows it up with the Vertigo for the win.

We then get a video package on “Hangman” Adam Page.
Excalibur then hypes that Page will speak next and then hypes the trios main event.
We then get highlights from Collision of the FTR vs. Grizzled Young Veterans match.
Excalibur then announces HOOK, The Outrunners and FTR vs. The Beast Mortos, Rush, Roderick Strong and The Grizzled Young Veterans for Saturday’s Collision.
Tony Schiavone is now in the ring and he introduces “Hangman” Adam Page and Page makes his way down to the ring. Schiavone asks Page what he meant when he put Swerve Strickland and anyone who would support him on notice last week after it appeared they had settled their issues in their Lights Out Steel Cage Match at AEW All Out and Page says he knew the day would come when Strickland was done with and will be gone. Page then says he knew that Strickland wasn’t the only person who will have to pay for what he put him through and that includes all the people who stood behind him and supported him. Page then says the latter part of that statement applies to the fans and he hears one voice cheering Strickland on above them all from the commentary desk and that is Schiavone himself. Page then looks to attack Schiavone, but Jeff Jarrett’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Page then delivers some right hands on Jarrett as soon as he slides in the ring, then sends him over the barricade and sends him back in the ring. Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, Karen Jarrett, security and other officials then make their way down to the ring to separate the two men. Jarrett then grabs a mic and says he will be damned if he sat backstage and let Page put one finger on Schiavone. Jarrett then says there is an entire locker room that wants to beat the hell out of Page and he is at the front of the line. Jarrett then promises that if it’s the last thing he does in his career, somehow he will kick Page’s ass. Jarrett’s music then plays and he had to be held back by security and his crew while Page heads backstage.
We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Ricochet. Will Ospreay interrupts the interview and says there has always been heat between them. Ospreay then says my bad while offering a handshake to Ricochet. Ricochet then passes on the handshake and recalls Ospreay telling him to get some wins and come see him. Ricochet then says it seems like everyone in AEW is calling him out to prove something. Ricochet then says everyone in AEW seems to be more worried about him than he is worried about them. Ricochet then says nobody seems to be calling out Ospreay. Ricochet then says he spoke with Tony Khan and got a match. Ricochet then says he will challenge Ospreay for the AEW International Championship on the October 2 five-year anniversary edition. Ricochet then says Ospreay “little bro” and walks away.
We then get the entrances of the main event of the night, which is a Trios Match.
The match starts off with Matthew Jackson and Nicholas double teaming on Fletcher, but Fletcher nails them with Snap Dragon suplexes and a couple of running kicks in the corner. Fletcher then hits a Brainbuster on Nicholas in the corner and goes for a pin, but Nicholas kicks out. Fletcher then hits a Michinoku Driver on Okada, then tags in Takeshita. Takeshita then hits Okada with a flying clothesline and goes for a pin, but Okada kicks out. Takeshita then hits Okada with a DDT before The Young Bucks look to hit a double superkick on Takeshita. Takeshita then sees them coming and hits a double clothesline on The Bucks, but gets nailed by Takeshita. Okada then hits a shoulder-breaker on Takeshita. Nicholas then hits a splash on Takeshita off the top to as Matthew hits a standing 450 Splash. Okada then hits an elbow drop on Takeshita before Matthew tags in and The Bucks set up for the EVP Trigger. Takeshita then avoids it and hits a double German suplex on The Bucks. Ospreay then tags in and hits a springboard kick on The Bucks. Ospreay then looks to hit the Os-Cutter on Okada, but Okada intercepts him and sets up for The Rainmaker. Ospreay then avoids it, but turns around into a kick from The Bucks. The Bucks then double team on Ospreay and Matthew pins him, but Fletcher and Ospreay break the fall.
The Bucks then look to hit superkicks on Ospreay, but Ospreay catches them. The Bucks then hit a double superkick on Ospreay and pin him, but Ospreay kicks out. The Bucks then set up for the EVP Trigger on Ospreay, but Fletcher lends a helping hand to Ospreay and both men double team on Matthew. Fletcher then tags in, but The Bucks double team on him. Okada then hits Takeshita with a dropkick and sets up for The Rainmaker, but Takeshita responds with a Blue Thunder Bomb and flies over the top to take down Okada on the outside. The Bucks then look to double team on Fletcher, but Fletcher takes them down and pins Matthew. Nicholas then breaks the fall, but Ospreay hits him with the Hidden Blade. Ospreay and Fletcher then hit the Coriolis on Matthew for the win.
The winners of the Trios Match, Don Callis Family (“The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher) and AEW International Champion “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay!
After the match, Callis enters the ring while Fletcher and Ospreay were celebrating. Takeshita then joins them while the referee was raising their arms. Ospreay then shakes hands with Callis. Fletcher and Takeshita then shakes hands. Ospreay then offers Takeshita a handshake, but Takeshita pie-faces him instead. Excalibur then hypes the previously advertised match for next week’s AEW Grand Slam and the show comes to a close.
