She sustained a serious injury during a February NXT TV taping, which led to changes in the scheduled events. After the injury, she had surgery and has begun her rehabilitation. Recently, it seems she might be returning to her old name.

During the aforementioned WWE NXT taping, Shotzi sustained a knee injury while attempting her apron DDT, rendering her unable to bear weight on the knee and experiencing considerable pain. Shotzi has already confirmed that she suffered an ACL tear and underwent surgery for the injury, for which she would be on the shelf for nine months.

The Stamford-based promotion is considering bringing back Shotzi’s old name following a major name change. Former NXT star Shotzi Blackheart, now known simply as Shotzi on the main roster, had her full name used during her time in developmental.

A trademark filing for the name “Shotzi Blackheart” was made on September 16. The filing covers a range of services including wrestling exhibitions, performances, wrestling news, and fan club activities, among other things.

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

While the trademark filing suggests a possibility, it’s not confirmed that the Blackheart surname will be officially returning. Shotzi confirmed it will still be a few months before she is back to in-ring action, so we’ll have to see if she will end up getting her full name back.
