JBL is a veteran in the pro wrestling world, having started his journey during the Attitude Era in the late 90s. He’s not an active in-ring competitor anymore and has now addressed potentially taking on the role of an agent in WWE.

The WWE Hall of Famer has done many different roles in the wrestling world over the past thirty years, including being a wrestler, manager, and announcer. He even worked briefly as a WWE agent.

While speaking on Huge Pop, JBL was asked if he wanted to become an agent again in WWE. JBL made it clear he wasn’t interested at all, explaining that he had been Sami Zayn’s agent for a short time but decided to quit afterwards. JBL praised Sami Zayn, saying he is one of the best characters he’s ever seen. He described how he would handle matches by asking for the match length and the finish.

JBL compared Zayn to Randy Savage and remembered a WrestleMania match with no crowd where Zayn worked with Daniel Bryan. Despite the lack of audience reaction making it challenging, Zayn’s performance impressed JBL. Although he admired Zayn’s work, JBL decided he didn’t want to continue as an agent and saw it as his retirement from that job.

”I don’t think so. I’ve told Sami Zayn this, so it’s not a secret. I was Sami Zayn’s agent one time and after that, I quit. I love Sami. He’s one of the best characters I’ve ever seen. I love Sami. I was a guy who said, ‘How long you need? 12 minutes. Okay. What’s the finish?’ That’s all I needed. (Randy) Savage was just like Sami. I remember I called a match at WrestleMania where there was no crowd and Sami was in there with Daniel Bryan. Without the crowd, it sucked and was tough. Sami was screaming at one point. Every time Daniel kicked him. I thought, ‘This is brilliant.’ It made the match. He was crying at one point. What a great heel. I love Sami, but I don’t want to be his agent. That was my retirement ceremony.”

JBL also made it clear that he does not want his failed partnership with Baron Corbin to be his last memory in professional wrestling. Regardless, JBL is currently busy making appearances in promotions all over the world and he is more than happy with his current situation and that’s all that matters to him.
