The rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre made its presence felt on the September 17 edition of WWE NXT, with The Best in the World being berated by one of his former fans, igniting a response from McIntyre.

As CM Punk arrived at the arena, the crowd erupted in chants before he even took the stage. Once in the ring, Punk complimented multiple NXT talent like Lexis King, Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page. However, Punk’s segment was interrupted by NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.

Roxanne confessed that while Punk was her favourite wrestler, she always preferred his wife, which led to “AJ” chants from the crowd. Perez also teased Punk about his upcoming Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, speculating that Punk might be seeking one last moment of glory and that now, she was a Drew McIntyre fan berating his once-favourite wrestler.

The heated segment between CM Punk and Roxanne Perez ignited a response from Drew McIntyre via his X. The Scottish Warrior mocked Punk for the whole Roxanne Perez being his wrestling daughter shenanigans and applauded the NXT Women’s Champion for picking his side instead of Punk.

“None of this ‘you’re my wrestling daughter’ bs Only freaks do that. I’m just very proud of you @roxanne_wwe.”

The segment also saw Roxanne Perez’s upcoming opponent, Giulia, make her presence. As she entered the ring, Punk stopped Roxanne from attacking her with the NXT Women’s Championship, ensuring the tension between the two competitors remained high, while the feud between Punk and McIntyre made waves on WWE NXT.
