AEW is still talking to Warner Bros Discovery about a new television deal. Tony Khan went to Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games to continue those talks, and things are reportedly amicable at this point. Still, fans are still waiting to see what they have in store for their next television deal.

Brandon Thurston shared a significant update on AEW’s upcoming media deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, citing a report from John Ourand at Puck. According to the report, AEW’s new deal with WBD is expected to be a 4-year agreement, with 3 years guaranteed and a 1-year option. The deal is reportedly valued at around $170 million per year.

Ourand also mentioned that AEW will continue to air on TNT, TBS, and TruTV twice per week. This move is part of WBD’s strategy to shift TruTV towards more sports-oriented programming. The official announcement of the deal could happen as soon as next week, pending any last-minute changes.

Additionally, AEW is reportedly pitching an extra broadcast package to other networks. While the report refers to AEW as “second-tier wrestling” at one point, Ourand acknowledged that the deal is still a significant success for the company, further solidifying its presence in the wrestling industry.

Sean Ross Sapp said on Fightful Select that sources they’ve spoken to at AEW say that things have been tight-lipped about the future of the deal, and that talent has not been privy to the details of AEW’s television future, or the future of pay-per-views.

During the media scrum after AEW All Out, Tony Khan was asked to give a percentage that AEW will announce a new television deal within the next month. He gave a “90%” number, one that he seemed comfortable giving. While that does give them a 10% out, odds are that fans will hear something new very soon.

Ringside News will have more on this story, and so much more. AEW obviously needs a new television deal to stay relevant, and Tony Khan’s company is still looking toward the future, which would give us the idea that a new television deal is coming.
