WWE’s NXT brand is set to start their new journey on The CW on October 1, and fans are set to see the black and gold brand get a big spotlight. They will also be touring a lot more often, but one longstanding luxury is going away.

During his Backstage Report podcast on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp spoke about the fact that NXT is going to a new home. This will come with a few notable changes, including their overruns going away.

“So for the last few years, SmackDown had to get off the air around 9:57 ET. They had to get off the air for the local news. CW does air local news, so thats something NXT may be subjected to. However, USA Network and SmackDown won’t be.”

It was also noted that, “So now you are going to have see NXT a little tight on their timing as opposed to previous years.”

WWE RAW is moving to Netflix in January 2025. The red brand will also become a two-hour show on October 7, but they may still get an overrun to play with. Still, WWE staff were a bit blindsided by that announcement.

The CW won’t be able to give that same freedom of an overrun due to local news. So, we only have a couple of weeks worth of NXT overruns to enjoy for now.

WWE NXT will take over Chicago’s All State Arena on October 1. You may find information about tickets here. The black and gold brand will then move to Saint Louis for their October 8 episode in The Factory, and ticket information can be found here for that show.

Ringside News will have ongoing coverage of WWE NXT’s move to The CW. This could come with a few changes along the way, but the black and gold brand will likely continue providing action-packed episodes the whole time.

What’s your take on NXT losing their overrun? Do you believe that overruns are used too often? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
