TNA Wrestling and WWE, known for their history of collaborations, renewed their partnership in May when Jordynne Grace made an appearance on NXT. Since then, a lot of talent exchange has taken place and now the method for how TNA and WWE plan their storyline has been revealed.

The WWE and TNA partnership is still making headlines, and for good reason. The two promotions regularly swap talent, with stars like Tatum Paxley, The Rascalz, Joe Hendry and No Catch Quarter Crew appearing on each other’s shows.

Several WWE NXT Superstars also made their debut during the latest set of TNA television tapings as well. While speaking on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked how far out in advance, WWE and TNA book storylines.

Sapp noted that WWE and TNA plan their storylines on a case-by-case basis. WWE often informs TNA about talent they want to use or protect in advance, but how this affects TNA’s own booking is not always clear. The coordination between the two promotions varies, which can make sharing wrestlers a bit challenging.

”Their individual stories are a case-by-case basis. NXT does clue TNA into some talent they’d like to use, and hopefully protect. However, we haven’t heard much as to how that affects their TNA booking if at all.”

AJ Styles has also made it clear he is open to returning to TNA as part of the ongoing partnership with WWE. With that said, TNA believes WWE has benefitted more from their partnership right now.
