The show Heels made a strong impact when it debuted in 2021, offering wrestling fans the drama and storytelling they craved. Despite being canceled after two seasons, its move to Netflix has sparked hope among fans for a potential third season. Recently, the show’s creator hinted at possible collaborations with WWE as well.
In September 2023, disappointment struck as Starz announced the cancellation of “Heels” after its second season. The decision left viewers frustrated, especially since the series ended on a major cliffhanger.
Both seasons of Heels are now streaming on Netflix after its cancellation by Starz. The series, which focuses on a Georgia-based wrestling promotion called the Duffy Wrestling League, stars Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, and Mary McCormack.
While speaking in an interview with Joe Otterson of Variety, Heels creator Michael Waldron discussed the potential for a partnership between Heels and WWE now that the show is available on Netflix.
Waldron mentioned that the Heels team has had “great conversations” with WWE, noting that WWE is a big fan of the show. He also hinted that if the series moves forward, they could better integrate WWE into the storyline, possibly positioning WWE as a competitor to the DWL.
I think the really exciting thing is, if we’re able to move forward with the show, we could more properly integrate the WWE into the storyline, as the DWL becomes a competitor.”
We will have to wait and see whether WWE and ‘Heels’ will end up collaborating, especially if the show gets greenlit for a third season, as fans would more than love for that to happen.
