WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker has officially retired, hanging up his iconic boots and hat, but there is one match that could potentially lure “The Deadman” back into the ring. Reflecting on his career during the “Six Feet Under” podcast, The Undertaker revealed that a rematch against D-Generation X might be the only bout that could entice him out of retirement.

Back at Crown Jewel 2018, The Undertaker and Kane reunited as The Brothers of Destruction to face Triple H and Shawn Michaels, representing DX, in the main event. However, the highly anticipated showdown was tainted by several botches, including Triple H tearing his pectoral muscle mid-match. Still, it stands as Shawn Michaels’ final match in the ring, one where he got a ridiculous payday, and he was returning to have some fun with his friends in the ring.

The poor performance left a sour taste for fans, especially given Shawn Michaels’ return to the ring after what many considered the perfect retirement at WrestleMania 26. HBK is still with WWE as the man behind NXT’s recent creative surge.

Reflecting on the match during his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker said that match is the only one that would get him out of retirement. That tag team match had a lot of potential, but it did not deliver.

“You would think all the experience that was involved in that match that we could have done that in our sleep. That may be the only match if we did it again that I would come out of retirement for. Just to see if we could top how bad it was the first time we did it. A man lost his pec, man lost his pride, man lost his mask.”

The match garnered a 0.69 rating on Cagematch.com, and while that’s a nice number, it is also one of the lowest in the careers of all four competitors. Only time will tell if they can get that match booked again, but it’s not likely.

Shawn Michaels is busy running NXT, and we all know that Triple H is running the main roster as Chief Creative Officer, a job he was seemingly born to have. Kane is still Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. You can check out his official county mayor website here. The Undertaker may have said that he would come back for that tag team match, but it’s also a very safe bet they will only get a rematch in video games form.

The Undertaker’s last official match took place at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, where he defeated AJ Styles in a cinematic Boneyard Match. Although the Crown Jewel encounter remains a low point for both The Undertaker and Kane, it also stands as a unique motivator, if only to rewrite what many consider a blemish on their storied legacies.
