To kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, AEW presented a special Lucha Libre match ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ home opener. The match took place at Flex Field, the Jaguars’ indoor practice facility, which is part of the EverBank Stadium and Daily’s Place complex.
In an exciting tag team contest, Sammy Guevara & Hologram defeated The Beast Mortos & Matt Taven. The event was well-received by fans in attendance, with Tony Khan addressing the crowd before the match, hyping up both the Jaguars and AEW’s commitment to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
AEW’s Wardlow and AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May were also spotted at EverBank Stadium, showing their support for the Jaguars and the special event.
The victory continues the recent momentum for Guevara and Hologram, who, alongside Dustin Rhodes, have formed a successful trios team in AEW. They secured back-to-back victories over The Dark Order on Rampage and against Ariya Daivari, Josh Woods, and Tony Nese on Collision. With today’s win, Hologram remains undefeated in AEW, boasting a perfect 10-0 record.
This match was a fun way for AEW to connect with fans during a significant cultural celebration while also building up storylines within the promotion.
