Matt Cardona expressed mixed emotions following Steph De Lander’s surprising announcement at TNA Victory Road that she requires neck surgery.

While Cardona showed concern for De Lander, his focus quickly shifted to her on-screen “husband,” PCO, making it clear that her absence would not slow him down in his pursuit of gold.

De Lander, who revealed her need for surgery during the event, pledged to return stronger and continue her wrestling career. Before this, De Lander was involved in an ongoing storyline with Cardona, where she was “married” to PCO and sought her freedom from Cardona. Cardona used the moment to gain an advantage, pinning Rhino during their tag team bout, a result that became secondary to De Lander’s emotional announcement.

In a digital exclusive after Victory Road, Cardona shared his thoughts on the situation:

“I had no idea about Steph’s neck injury. Surgery?! Like, what? You’re just going to spring that on me live out there? Steph, yeah, you’re my property. You signed the contract, but we’re friends. We’re family at this point. So my heart, it breaks for you knowing that your dream is gonna be paused, and I know you’ll be back, but while you’re gone, I just want you to know that… I’m going to destroy PCO. I’m going to take everything that he has. All those championships, they’re coming to me.”

Despite showing some genuine concern for De Lander’s condition, Cardona made it clear that his main goal remains to dismantle PCO and claim his championships. His ruthless determination to collect gold and make a name for himself in TNA is still his top priority, and De Lander’s absence won’t stop him from targeting PCO.

“I didn’t come to TNA to make friends and have a good time. I came to TNA for buzz, money, and gold, and I’m gonna get that whether you’re healthy or not, Steph.”

With De Lander sidelined for surgery, it remains to be seen how this storyline will unfold between Cardona and PCO in the coming weeks.
