AEW is all about boasting the achievements of people on their roster. They allow their talent to get out there and perform outside their company, and that led to them making one big claim about Chris Jericho that turned out not to be true.

AEW posted this video package which claims that Chris Jericho beat Mistico in a 2 out of 3 falls match during CMLL’s 91st Anniversary Show when in fact Mistico won the match. During the 9/14 AEW Collision, Tony Schavione claimed that Mistico tapped out to the Walls of Jericho, but that’s not what really happened.

In the main event, Mistico actually defeated Chris Jericho two falls to one, winning via submission with the La Mistica. Jericho initially took the first fall with the Walls of Jericho, but Mistico tied it up with a frog splash before ultimately submitting Jericho. After the match, Big Bill attacked Mistico, but Orange Cassidy made the save, handing Mistico his sunglasses as the show closed.

Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho are in a feud over a $7,000 debt from Cassidy ruining Jericho’s jacket. On September 11 AEW Dynamite, Kyle O’Reilly and Mark Briscoe dumped $7,000 in pennies on Jericho’s car, with Cassidy throwing in an extra dollar to make sure Jericho got his money.

Elsewhere on the CMLL card, Zeuxis defeated Willow Nightingale to win the CMLL Women’s World Championship, ending Nightingale’s 69-day reign. That’s a nice length for a reign, but AEW certainly saw two losses during that event, even though they are claiming Jericho won his match.

The fact that AEW aired highlights from the match during Collision this week and they also got the match result wrong was noticed by several fans. The company was called out on Reddit’s Squared Circle Subreddit, but for some reason, the post proclaiming that Jericho won is still up.

We will keep our eye on this story for more updates. You never know what can happen next, but we will be here with all the updates you need.

What’s your take on AEW claiming Chris Jericho won a match that he actually lost? What is the disconnect that would cause such a blunder? Was it done on purpose? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
