Noelle Foley, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, had issues with concussions for a long time now. She suffered a concussion after riding on a roller coaster and now she has shared a fundraiser for researching a rare disease following five years of her struggle with concussions.

Noelle Foley went to a specialist after she got a concussion. She was even training to be a pro wrestler, but the concussion stopped her from continuing. On top of that, she developed Hyperacusis because of the concussion, which makes normal sounds very painful for her.

Foley took to Twitter and revealed that it has been five years since her concussion and neck injury this week. She feels it’s surreal how much time has passed and acknowledges that while she made progress, she still has a lot of recovery ahead. Besides the concussion and neck injury (Craniocervical Instability), she also suffers from Hyperacusis, a rare hearing problem caused by the concussion.

Foley has seen over 40 doctors and physical therapists, but no one has been able to fully explain her condition. Hyperacusis is not well-understood yet, and there’s still much research needed. Noelle took part in a clinical study in 2021 for a special hearing device designed to help with Hyperacusis.

Noelle believes more research and funding could lead to a cure or better treatments for Hyperacusis. She recently discovered Hyperacusis Research Ltd., a non-profit that focuses on researching and supporting people with Hyperacusis. They are holding a fundraiser to help advance their work, and she encouraged anyone interested to donate.

”This week marked 5 years since my concussion & neck injury. Feels surreal saying that. I’ve come a far way, but I still have a waysss to go. Between the concussion itself, my neck injury (Craniocervical Instability) & Hyperacusis, which was brought on by the concussion…(part 1)

Its been A LOT to deal especially with doctors having very limited answers. If you’re wondering what Hyperacusis is, it’s a rare hearing disorder characterized by noise-induced pain & reduced tolerance to sound. Hyperacusis is often caused by noise overexposure & concussions (P2)

I’ve seen over 40 drs/physical therapists & we still don’t know how/why that’s possible. With Hyperacusis there is still SO much to be researched and discovered. I was part of a clinical study back in 2021 for Hyperacusis, specifically for a special hearing device. (Part 3)

I think that with more research & funding towards research & clinical studies, we might be able to find a cure for Hyperacusis, or at least possible treatment options to lessen the severity of this hearing disorder. I recently came across Hyperacusis Research Ltd., (Part 4)

Which is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to advancing research & advocacy for Hyperacusis, & helping to make a difference in the lives of Hyperacusis sufferers. @HyperacusisCure put together a fundraiser for Hyperacusis, if anybody is interested in donating (Part 5)

Thank you so much to those who have been supportive over the years and continually ask how I’m doing. I appreciate you!!! ❤️

Noelle Foley also decided to get stem cell treatment in the past. Concussions are a very serious issue and need to be treated with great care. We hope that Foley makes a full recovery and continues raising awareness about her condition. Her openness about it is important in helping others understand the seriousness of concussions as well as Hyperacusis, so many fans appreciate her for the steps she is taking.

What do you think of Noelle Foley’s struggles with concussion and Hyperacusis after so many years? Do you feel her spreading awareness will help in a big way in the future? Sound off in the comments section below!
