Cody Rhodes has unique talent for connecting with fans, which played a significant role in his rise to becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion. He is currently seen as one of the biggest babyfaces in WWE and now a former WWE personality has revealed why WWE won’t turn Cody Rhodes heel.

Although Cody Rhodes is currently a popular babyface, some fans are excited about the possibility of him turning heel again. With his past success in playing a villain, a shift in his character would be well within his capabilities and could add a fresh dynamic to his role in WWE.

The idea of Cody Rhodes turning heel was addressed on this week’s Smack Talk, with Dutch Mantell sharing his thoughts. He mentioned that WWE might avoid this change due to the impact it could have on their merchandise sales. Rhodes is one of WWE’s top sellers and a major draw as a babyface, especially among younger fans.

Mantell compared Cody’s connection with the younger audience to John Cena’s during his prime, suggesting that this strong fanbase may keep the Triple H-led creative team from turning the reigning champion into a heel.

“I don’t think so [Dutch shakes his head]. He’d [Cody] be a good one, but I think he is selling too much merchandise for them to throw that away. Kids are buying that stuff, left and right.”

Even The Undertaker believes Cody Rhodes could be good heel. Regardless, only time will tell if The American Nightmare will embrace his dark side and become a heel again in the future.
