Stephen Amell became a big name thanks to his role as the Green Arrow on CW’s Arrow but it also made him the butt of make jokes. Even John Cena’s Peacemaker made fun of Amell’s character and it appears Amell didn’t take too kindly to that at all.

In case you were not aware, during the season finale of John Cena’s Peacemaker, Cena’s character said Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow “goes to Brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle with a four-inch-wide butthole drilled in the costume.”

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Stephen Amell admitted he was upset and didn’t appreciate John Cena’s Peacemaker insulting his Green Arrow character. He expressed frustration, saying it felt unnecessary and crude. Amell acknowledged that Arrow and other CW shows were often treated poorly compared to DC’s movie universe, despite the hard work put into the series.

Amell felt that while people think about Arrow when they consider recent DC iterations, the show was consistently disrespected. The jab in Peacemaker seemed excessive to him, especially considering the effort required to play a superhero without powers for 23 episodes a year. Amell emphasized that he wasn’t looking for praise but felt it was unfair to criticize the show in that way.

“Yeah, that was a little unnecessary. I didn’t f******* appreciate that at all [and was super pissed]. It was crude. And by the way, I don’t know if they… okay, I’m just gonna come right out and say this. There was just—there was such, um, between the movies and between Peacemaker a little bit, like, our show was kind of treated like s***, right? Like, I get it, we’re on the CW, I get it, it’s TV, but I also get the fact that, you know, when people think about the most recent iteration of DC, okay, they don’t think about the Snyder Cut, they think about Arrow. And we got crapped on for years and years and years, and this just seemed excessive.

I just remember hearing that and being like, ‘F*** those guys.’ Seriously. Like, I’m up here, I’m working just as hard as anyone else. You know how hard it is to play a superhero with no superpowers for 23 episodes a year? It’s really, really, really hard. And like, I’m not looking for a prize, but maybe don’t s*** on our show.”

We will have to wait and see whether Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow will ever make a cameo appearance in Peacemaker season 2, as fans would love to see that happen in the future.
