Nikki Bella has already broken her silence about her husband, Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest. Now there is even more to unpack in the pages of their divorce documents.
TMZ reports that Nikki Bella is seeking legal and physical custody of her 4-year-old son, Matteo, as she moves forward with her divorce from Artem Chigvintsev. Bella filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and marked August 29 as the date of separation, which was the same day Artem was arrested for felony corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant.
In the divorce documents, Bella requested that the court block the ability to award spousal support to either party. As for Matteo, who turned 4 in July, Nikki is seeking primary custody but is open to allowing Artem visitation rights.
The incident leading to Artem’s arrest occurred in late August, when he initially called 911 requesting medical assistance for the alleged victim, only to cancel the request minutes later. Despite this, police arrived on the scene and arrested Chigvintsev. Formal charges have yet to be filed, but the case was turned over to prosecutors last week.
Bella’s decision to file for divorce reportedly wasn’t unexpected, as she had been seen without her wedding ring in recent days, including while filming the Chestnut vs. Kobayashi hotdog-eating contest shortly after the incident. Additionally, sources revealed that Nikki had been actively seeking divorce lawyers before filing the paperwork.
Nikki has now officially filed for divorce and appears to have assembled her legal team, as the case continues to unfold. We will keep an eye on this story for any more updates here at Ringside News.
