CM Punk’s name has been connected with controversy for a very long time, but this time he really didn’t do anything to cause it. A bracelet that was given to him as a gift at WWE World before WrestleMania 40 took on a life of its own.

On September 9th, WWE Shop began selling replicas of the AJ Lee and Larry bracelet for $9.99, sparking a reaction from Victoria, the fan who originally made the bracelet for CM Punk. She tweeted her surprise at not being informed, noting that it was intended as a personal gift for Punk, not a commercial product. WWE then removed the bracelet from its store.

Now that bracelet is back up on WWE’s Shop, but it’s been changed. Instead of saying “AJ” and “Larry,” the bracelet says “CM Punk.” This was a small alteration, but it didn’t change the overall look of the piece. You may find a link to that new item here.

Victoria, the original bracelet’s creator, addressed the situation after WWE pulled the bracelet down with a series of tweets, explaining that she wasn’t seeking compensation but would have appreciated a mention in the product description. She acknowledged WWE’s legal right to sell the item but expressed that a simple heads-up would have been considerate.

The bracelet’s creator, who gained thousands of followers on Twitter since this started, also mentioned that if WWE had consulted her, she would have suggested using “CM Punk” on the bracelet instead of “AJ” and “Larry” to better align with the storyline. Victoria shared that WWE had recently reached out with a thank-you from Punk and invited her to an upcoming show, though the invitation was unrelated to the bracelet sale.

It turns out that WWE actually took Victoria’s advice here, and they put up a “CM Punk” bracelet instead. Now we will have to see how well they sell.

As CM Punk and Drew McIntyre prepare for their Hell in a Cell match on October 5, the bracelet no longer plays a role in the storyline, but Victoria’s contribution remains a memorable part of the narrative.
