Ricochet Sets Sights on G1 Climax Tournament

Ricochet had been a part of the WWE family from 2018 till his departure earlier this year. He is now a part of the AEW roster but that doesn’t mean he isn’t interested in competing outside the promotion. In fact, Ricochet has now set his sights on competing in the G1 Climax tournament.

With Ricochet now signed to AEW, he has a chance to return to Japan, where he’s competed for NJPW and Dragon Gate in the past. It’s been confirmed that he’ll wrestle next month for the Japanese promotion GLEAT, teaming up with his former mentor from Dragon Gate, CIMA.

While speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Ricochet shared his excitement about reuniting with CIMA for the upcoming GLEAT match. He also discussed his remaining ambitions in NJPW, expressing a strong desire to return and take on new challenges. When asked about possibly entering the prestigious G1 tournament, Ricochet enthusiastically agreed that it’s on his radar.

Ricochet also mentioned that after winning the Best of the Super Junior tournament in 2014, his next goal would naturally be the G1. He emphasized that there are still several accomplishments in NJPW that he’s eager to pursue.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Ricochet responded. “I already won the Best of the Super Junior [in 2014], so I feel like now I should upgrade my goals to the G1, for sure. And actually, obviously, there’s still a lot of things in New Japan that I didn’t get to accomplish that I still plan on accomplishing.”

Ricochet also explained why he feels leaving WWE for AEW was the right choice. Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see if Ricochet will compete in the G1 Climax tournament next year, as fans would love to see him part of the incredibly popular tournament.
