The September 11 AEW Dynamite came to you live from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Queen Aminata had previously stepped in to save Skye Blue from Mariah May at All Out’s Zero-Hour show, much to May’s displeasure. Now, the two squared off in a Women’s Title Eliminator match.

The AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator match between Mariah May and Queen Aminata saw strong fan support for Aminata, who has quickly become a fan favorite since her debut in Tony Khan’s company.

The action continued through the commercial break as Aminata and May battled around the ring. When the show returned, May hit a missile dropkick from the top rope. For May, this match carried extra weight, as while her title wasn’t on the line this time, a loss would guarantee Aminata a future title shot.

Aminata countered with a kick and scored a roll-up for a two count, followed by a snap suplex and a German suplex. She then delivered a running kick to May’s jaw as she lay against the ropes, but it only resulted in a near fall.

May escaped a powerbomb attempt and delivered a suspended DDT for a close two count. Despite Aminata’s best efforts, she couldn’t secure the pinfall against the champion.

May dodged a diving foot stomp and hit a dropkick followed by a stiff knee. She then nailed a Storm Zero, Toni Storm’s finisher, to secure the win, adding insult to injury. This victory was a big statement for Mariah May as she continues her reign.

After the match, Mariah May called out to Mina Shirakawa, her former partner. She misses her. This is the same partner that AEW asked May to stop kissing on television, so, we’ll probably see them reunite.

What’s your take on Mariah May’s current run as AEW Women’s World Champion? Do you think Toni Storm will reclaim her title upon her return? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
