The man the world knew as Sycho Sid, who rose to fame in the 1990s, passed away on Monday, August 26, at the age of 63. The cause of death was cancer, as confirmed by his son Gunnar Eudy on Facebook. Sid was a legend whose impact on the wrestling world will be remembered, and his legacy will live on. However, Kevin Nash shared an interesting perspective on the situation.

During his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash was asked if steroids could be linked to brain cancer. Nash responded, “It had nothing to do with that. If it was your liver, absolutely—anabolic waste can tear your liver apart.”

Nash then made a light-hearted joke about potential causes of brain cancer. According to Nash, it had more to do with something as humorous as flags flapping in the wind than steroids.

“It’s medically proven that if you drive around in a pickup truck with a flag in the back, the flapping noise can give you brain cancer. It might make you vote a little weird too—the repetition of it. You might not know how to answer when asked what caused the Civil War, and you might vote strangely. And you might not know how to act at Arlington National Cemetery in front of a fallen soldier, just to clarify.”

Although Sid passed away at 63 after battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, he had also been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. That same night, WWE Raw honored him with a tribute video, and Damian Priest, alongside Rhea Ripley, paid homage during an in-ring segment. Priest declared, “We are the masters and rulers of this world,” echoing Sid’s famous line, before they both performed his signature chokeslam and powerbomb.

Although he hasn’t been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame yet, many argue that Sid certainly deserves that honor. Only time will tell is that day is coming for him sooner than later.

Our thoughts go out to Sid’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time. His presence in the wrestling world will be sorely missed. You can check out the Kliq This podcast below, with the relevant segment starting around the 42-minute mark.
