AEW is coming off their All Out pay-per-view event. The first match of the night, during the September 11 AEW Dynamite, was quite a TNT Title match.
Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite came to you live from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, where Lio Rush and Jack Perry had the chance to steal the show in a TNT Title match.
Jack Perry, fresh off an AEW World Title match against Bryan Danielson at All Out, was looking for redemption after his loss. Although he didn’t come away with the world title, he entered AEW Dynamite with a point to prove. Perry made a statement with his entrance, arriving in a black Scapegoat van, setting the stage for an intense showdown.
The match kicked off with a fast-paced exchange until Perry slowed Lio Rush down by smashing his face into the ring apron. As the action continued, the show cut to a picture-in-picture commercial break, allowing fans to witness the ongoing battle while ads played.
Action Andretti, who was in Lio Rush’s corner, tried to interfere but was promptly ejected from ringside, much to the delight of the Lexington crowd. Seizing the moment, Lio Rush hit two consecutive dives on Perry after throwing him outside the ring, reigniting his momentum.
Despite Lio Rush’s flurry of moves and a near fall, Jack Perry regained control, eventually leveling Rush with a knee strike. After landing another devastating knee, Perry secured the victory to retain the TNT Title. While this match showcased both competitors, Perry’s successful title defense was a crucial step in regaining his footing after All Out.
What’s next for Jack Perry remains to be seen as AEW continues building toward its next big event. What’s your take on Jack Perry’s booking in AEW? Do you think he’d be better off without the Scapegoat? Let us know in the comments section!
