Dwight Howard was one of the biggest names in the NBA, and he attended the WWE tryouts in Nashville during SummerSlam back in 2022, which made fans think he would join WWE eventually. However, it appears that Howard will no longer pursue a career in WWE.

Back in 2022, Dwight Howard had noted that he was very serious about joining WWE as well. Triple H also made it clear that Dwight Howard is just one phone call away from joining WWE.

While speaking to TMZ Sports, Dwight Howard was asked about pursuing a career in WWE again. Howard explained that Ric Flair discouraged him from pursuing a career in professional wrestling. Flair expressed concerns about Howard’s knees and the physical toll of wrestling, with all the constant movement and heavy lifting involved.

Although Howard’s knees feel fine, he mentioned that he’d rather focus on spending time with his kids after 20 years of playing basketball. He acknowledged the difficulty of regularly lifting 300 pounds and admitted that it’s not something he wants to do for the rest of his life.

“Yeah, but you know what? You’re big. I was talking to Ric… uh, what’s up boss, what’s going on, how you doing? I was talking to Ric Flair. He said he doesn’t know if my knees are good for, uh, really for wrestling. That’s a lot of… and it’s a lot of moving. Well, you know, I could, but I’d rather be with my kids, man. I’ve been playing for 20 years. It’s time for my kids, man.

Oh, my knees feel good, it’s just wrestling… talking about picking up 300 pounds and all that stuff. Nobody wants to do that for their whole life.”

It is certainly a shame that Dwight Howard will no longer pursue a career in WWE as many fans were genuinely looking forward to seeing him become a part of the WWE family. Nonetheless, Howard chose what he felt is best for his life and that’s all that matters to him.
