AEW has been busy following the events of All Out, and the September 11 edition of AEW Dynamite worked to clarify some of the fallout while setting the stage for what’s next in the company.
When Jon Moxley made his way to the ring with Marina Shafir by his side, Darby Allin confronted him. Allin expressed how much Moxley inspired him early in his career, saying it was Moxley’s resilience that kept him motivated in pro wrestling.
Allin then shared how many have advised him to slow down in the ring, but he feels a deep gratitude toward AEW, as he was homeless before the company began. He reminded Moxley of their first meeting in a high school gym, a match that confirmed to Allin that he belonged in the ring with someone of Moxley’s caliber.
Moxley responded by telling Allin that he wouldn’t be getting his world title match at Grand Slam on September 25, as “the World Champion is indisposed.” He even called it a “blessing in disguise,” stating that Allin wasn’t ready for such an opportunity and demanded that Allin relinquish his title shot.
Allin fired back, asking if Moxley had been drinking again and refusing to give up his title shot. He challenged Moxley to do something about it, leading to a match being booked for Grand Slam on September 25 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, where Allin’s World Title shot will be on the line.
The two seem destined to tear each other apart on September 25, as Moxley vowed to teach Allin a hard lesson. Allin accepted the challenge, warning that he would drag Moxley into the fire as Mox tries to burn AEW to the ground.
