At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, John Cena announced his retirement from professional wrestling, but it’s confirmed he will be appearing on RAW after the show moves to Netflix this year. With that said, it appears John Cena will essentially be the replacement for The Rock after RAW moves to Netflix.

John Cena already announced that he will play a role in helping transition WWE RAW to Netflix. He also shared that his final wrestling appearances will include the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 2025. Rather than having one final match, Cena will embark on a farewell tour throughout 2025, with his in-ring career set to conclude in December 2025.

While speaking on his Dirty Sheets podcast via Patreon, Billi Bhatti talked about WWE’s plans for John Cena on RAW after their move to Netflix. Billi Bhatti stated that John Cena will be on Netflix full-time, appearing on RAW.

Cena’s role is intended to address the unmet promises regarding The Rock and Roman Reigns appearing on Netflix as part of the RAW brand, since they are currently scheduled to appear on the USA Network on SmackDown. Bhatti noted that there is a possibility that Netflix might accept Cena as a suitable replacement for the entire year of 2025, during which he is planned to make 35 appearances for WWE.

“John Cena is going to be on Netflix full-time. He’s going to be on RAW and is there to soften the blow regarding the promises not being kept initially about The Rock and Roman Reigns appearing on Netflix as part of the RAW brand. They are set to appear on the USA Network on SmackDown instead. We’ll see how they get around that; maybe Netflix will accept John Cena as a solid replacement for the entire year of 2025, during which he is scheduled to make 35 appearances for WWE.”

Many professional wrestlers want to face John Cena as part of his retirement tour next year and that includes even RVD. John Cena also explained why he will retire from in-ring competition in 2025, so we will have to wait and see if Cena will retire into the sunset in the best way imaginable in the end.
