MVP Proclaims His In-Ring Retirement Will Be Permanent

The world of professional wrestling has seen several significant retirement announcements recently, altering the course of the industry. Sting retired at AEW Revolution this year, and John Cena’s retirement tour is scheduled for 2025. While MVP has left WWE, he’s not quite ready to hang up his boots just yet. However, when the time comes, it will be final.

MVP hasn’t wrestled since 2022, but he is set to make his return to the ring at Bloodsport in November, where he will face off against Josh Barnett. Clearly, MVP isn’t ready to give up his fighting spirit just yet.

During a virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest, MVP discussed his future in wrestling. Though he’s not retiring now, when he does decide to step away for good, it will be permanent. He won’t be one of those wrestlers making multiple comebacks.

“I’m not done just yet. I have a little bit more left in the tank before I retire. I have a match in November with Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport. When I hang up the boots, I will hang them up for good. I will be done. I won’t be one of those guys coming back out of retirement here and there. I want to do it, like I’ve done my career up to this point, my way. I look forward to that day when it’s all done, but we’re not there yet.”

MVP left WWE earlier this summer and is currently a free agent. His confrontation with Barnett at Bloodsport on July 28 set the stage for their upcoming match in November.

During the same signing, MVP also clarified his comments regarding Triple H, insisting that his words were taken out of context and that he never accused Triple H of being racist.

It remains to be seen where MVP will go next. While a return to the WWE ring may not be in the cards, a WWE Hall of Fame induction seems inevitable for the former Hurt Business leader, which is a recognition he certainly deserves.
