AEW hosted the 2024 All Out event at the NOW Arena on August 7, where multiple titles were defended, including the AEW Continental Championship. In one of the night’s most anticipated matches, Kazuchika Okada defended his title against Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, and The Beast Mortos.

The AEW Continental Championship match was set following a series of qualifying bouts that culminated in this high-stakes four-way showdown. Okada’s challengers—Briscoe, Cassidy, and Mortos—earned their spots through hard-fought victories on previous episodes of Collision.

On the September 6 episode of AEW Collision, airing on an unusual Friday night in direct competition with WWE SmackDown, AEW continued building momentum toward the All Out event. The episode featured key matches as part of the Continental Contenders Challenge. Mark Briscoe earned his place by defeating Lance Archer in a bloody battle, while Orange Cassidy triumphed over Bryan Keith. In the final qualifier, Konosuke Takeshita took on The Beast Mortos to secure the last spot, with Don Callis watching ringside as Takeshita claimed the win.

The Continental Championship match started slowly as the competitors sized each other up. However, things picked up when Takeshita and Okada prevented Orange Cassidy from putting his hands in his pockets, only for Cassidy to respond with a double hurricanrana that got the Chicago crowd roaring. Mark Briscoe soon joined the action, mixing it up with the others.

Throughout the match, all four wrestlers had opportunities to shine. Orange Cassidy maintained momentum, performing well in front of the lively crowd. Briscoe, still showing signs of his brutal match against Archer, continued despite a bleeding head, even managing to hit a dive over the top rope using a chair for extra flair. He then exchanged soft-style chops with Cassidy before delivering more forceful strikes.

Takeshita and Okada faced off in the ring, with the battle intensifying as each man vied for the win. Numerous pinfall attempts and close calls kept the audience on the edge of their seats, with several near falls broken up at the last second.

In the final moments, Orange Cassidy nearly stole the win with a roll-up pin on Okada, but the Continental Champion powered out, hitting a Rainmaker to secure victory. The Chicago crowd erupted as Okada retained his title in what was a hard-fought and thrilling contest for the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
