Swerve Strickland has been making waves in AEW with his impressive wrestling skills and commanding presence, quickly becoming a standout performer. However, despite his rising popularity, an unexpected group of AEW stars has been outselling Strickland in merchandise
The Outrunners have become fan favorites in AEW and ROH, and it looks like they’re also doing very well in merchandise sales. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, sales estimates for August reveal that The Outrunners are selling more merchandise than big names like Swerve Strickland, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and other top stars.
The top merchandise sellers for the month, according to Wrestlenomics, are AEW, Will Ospreay, MJF, ROH, Mariah May, Darby Allin, Rob Schamberger, The Outrunners, Bryan Danielson, and Britt Baker.
While this is great for Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum, Dave Meltzer points out that it’s surprising that The Outrunners and artist Rob Schamberger are outselling current and former AEW World Champions, as well as established merchandise sellers like The Young Bucks and Orange Cassidy.
Swerve Strickland also signed a new contract, which is considered one of the most significant in AEW’s history. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see if Strickland will have better merchandise sales soon enough, as fans want to see Swerve prosper.
