Another WWE Superstar is sticking around for the long haul.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and NXT Champion Shayna Baszler has re-signed with WWE. According to the report, Baszler’s deal was nearing its expiration this year, but the company and the 44-year-old star came to terms on a new multi-year contract.
While the exact length of Baszler’s new deal remains unclear, sources within WWE indicated that the agreement came together recently. Baszler is currently part of the Pure Fusion Collective alongside Sonya Deville and Zoey Stark on WWE Raw, where the trio has been receiving a notable push.
Baszler’s background as a pioneer of women’s MMA and a former UFC competitor makes her a unique asset in WWE. She first joined the company in 2017 and has been a mainstay ever since. When asked about her contributions to WWE, a longtime staff member praised Baszler’s ego-free approach and noted how she has consistently been easy to work with.
Additionally, a higher-up within WWE highlighted Baszler’s efforts in helping newer talent behind the scenes, showcasing her influence beyond just her in-ring work.
WWE has been busy locking down key talent in recent months, with Baszler joining the likes of Seth Rollins, Asuka, Drew McIntyre, Humberto Carrillo, Angel Garza, and Damian Priest in re-signing with the company this year.
