CM Punk’s comeback at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event is undoubtedly one of the best things to happen to WWE, as Punk has cemented himself as a top draw once again. With that said, Scott D’Amore has confirmed TNA made a ‘budget buster’ offer to CM Punk last year.
Before CM Punk made his return to WWE at Survivor Series last year, he paid a visit to TNA Wrestling during set of television taping. Reports also suggested that Punk received a solid offer from TNA as well.
While speaking on Talk is Jericho, Scott D’Amore revealed that even though they don’t have the financial power of WWE or AEW, he made offers to two major wrestling stars at the end of 2023. He confirmed that they extended offers to both CM Punk and Will Ospreay.
D’Amore explained that while they operate within a set budget, they also consider the potential revenue impact of signing high-profile talent, noting that such moves could significantly alter their financial model.
“It’s documented, we made an offer to [CM] Punk, we made an offer to Will Ospreay,” D’Amore said. “There’s your budget, and then there’s budget busters that there’s revenue attached to this. Like, here’s your budget that you’re running with, your revenue envelope, and then on a senior level at the very top you go, ‘Okay, if we make this move, all this revenue model changes.'”
Ace Steel also doesn’t rule out CM Punk returning to TNA Wrestling one day. Regardless, CM Punk is more than happy with his current run in WWE as he continues to feud with Drew McIntyre, but some fans can’t help but think how things would have been different had Punk joined TNA instead of WWE.
