Netflix has officially dropped the trailer for its highly anticipated six-part docuseries on Vince McMahon, and it’s clear the series won’t shy away from the sexual misconduct allegations that have cast a shadow over the WWE figurehead. While the documentary has been in the works for years, the recent allegations are expected to play a significant role in the final product.

During Konnan’s “Keepin’ It 100” podcast, Conrad Thompson weighed in on the documentary, suggesting that it might be more of a “burial” of McMahon rather than a balanced portrayal.

“It’s a hit piece they don’t like.” He further mentioned that Bill Simmons, who’s involved in the production, doesn’t hold back when telling stories, noting that the inclusion of David Shoemaker and Dave Meltzer in the documentary only intensifies the critical angle. “It’s an absolute double shovel burial,” Thompson added.

Konnan chimed in, noting that Simmons’ involvement likely means no punches will be pulled, while Disco Inferno added his perspective, expressing discomfort with the way people in the “dirt sheet community” often pile on to figures like McMahon or Hulk Hogan despite their contributions to the business.

“It bothers me to hear people in the ‘dirt sheet community’ pile on people like Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon regardless of the bad things they’ve done,” Inferno said.

Thompson also spoke about reconciling his feelings about McMahon, much like he had to do with Chris Benoit, stating the importance of separating the artist from the person.

“He created some real magic for millions of people, myself included. But he wasn’t always a great guy… Not everybody is all good or all bad.”

Thompson acknowledged that while some fans may no longer be able to enjoy McMahon’s past work due to the allegations, his experience is different.

“I can understand people who can’t go back and watch things from the past because of people like McMahon being part of that history, etc., but it’s not my experience,” he said.

With the Netflix docuseries shaping up to be a hard-hitting look at McMahon’s legacy, the wrestling world is bracing for the impact it may have on how fans perceive one of the industry’s most influential figures.
